Taipei, Taiwan – Lite-On (www.liteonodd.com), a global leader in optical storage solutions, announces the release of the world’s lightest DVD writer, the eBAU108. Weighing only 220 grams (7.76 ounces.), with a thickness of 13.5 mm (0.53 inches), Lite-On’s eBAU108 external DVD writer was created as an ultra-convenient solution for those needing to add optical drive capacity to their Ultrabook or thin notebook.
The slim drive is ideal for installing software and watching DVDs. Its double-layer 8.5 GB recording DVD capacity also lets users back up photos and videos to disks, freeing up valuable storage space.
As well as being extremely light and thin, the Lite-On eBAU108 is designed to be very compact and portable. The drive is just 140 mm (5.5 inches) wide and 136.3 mm (5.4 inches) long. Complementing its compact size, Lite-On has given it an aesthetically pleasing fingerprint-resistant brushed texture and beveled edges.
Powered directly by a cable connected to a single USB port on the computer, the eBAU108 requires no additional power adapter or secondary connector. In Link2TV mode, it can also be connected to a TV’s USB port, giving the set the ability to read videos, music, and pictures from discs. It’s the perfect way to view vacation videos and photos of good times on the big screen of your home TV.
